Sometimes my mam would declare we were packing the car on a Friday night and we’d all go to stay with friends or family somewhere ‘down south’. Baking days with my mam – corned beef pie for the win and cake mixture off the spoon. OMG, the excitement of getting to choose! Getting to go to blockbusters and choose a video/DVD and popcorn. She loved that I had an appetite and I loved that she was a feeder. Going to nanas house and eating everything in sight.Christmas! Just everything about it, but mostly the excitement and build up.Getting to stay up late after my sister went to bed and have a dance party with my mam.Saturday family nights where we all played a computer game on the Nintendo 64 or Sega Megadrive.Cold rainy days where we pulled the couch in front of the fire and all cuddled up in front of the tv (lots of fire-related memories here, do I need to get a fire?!).Snow days! Playing in deep snow until your toes hurt and coming in and warming up in front of the fire. Sunday night baths and getting dry in front of the fire.Getting to go to the corner shop for a 10p mix-up.It was all about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 90s My favourite childhood memories from the 80s and 90s were But (as I mentioned in my post on my childhood Christmas memories) when I think back to my childhood, those kind of things aren’t my favourite childhood memories from the 80s and 90s – and I bet yours aren’t either.
